About Us

The History of the Blount House (Circa 1890’s)

James Alexander Blount and his wife, Rebecca Virginia (Garrett) Blount, purchased the original “Blount House” on Eucheeanna Road.  When he passed, his youngest son Louis Needham (Louie), purchased the home from the estate, and continued to be called the “Blount House”. In 2002 the Blount House was offered to the Town Planters by a developer.  It was moved to a lot belonging to the city and was damaged through the process. In cooperation with the city, it was rebuilt. It is now the home of the Town Planters Society.

The Town Planters Society of Freeport was founded on the idea of helping those in need. Ever since our organization was established, we have endeavored to provide help where the need is greatest.

We are a organization Promoting Community Pride and Civic Responsibility. We are supporting the Beautification and Education of Freeport.

Our team is made up entirely of volunteers. We advocate for those who need our help. Even a little help goes a long way.

That is why we are especially happy to find new volunteers who share our commitment to doing good in the world. Do you want to support us by helping with our work? Then do not hesitate to contact us. A helping hand is always greatly appreciated!
